30-Day Self-Love Challenge to Transform Your Life

One of the things that I have learned in the past year is to be kind to myself as I am to others, and love myself as I love others. Self-love is a word that’s commonly used but never practiced. I’ve heard people say that they practice self-love, but then they would go around and forget to give themselves the care they deserve. This makes me question if they truly understand what self-love is all about.

When I say self-love, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Hugging yourself? Setting boundaries? Treating yourself to a cup of coffee? Well, these are all ways of self-love, but it’s not all. Self-love is so much more than just treating yourself right.

Your physical, mental, emotional, environmental, relational, and financial health among others encompasses your well-being. And when I say that you should give yourself priority and self-love, I urge you to love yourself in all these aspects (and more). Trust me when I say this, but you won’t be able to make others happy and loved unless you can make yourself truly happy and loved.

Here’s where the 30-day self-love challenge enters! With this self-love challenge, you will learn to make yourself happy and feel more accepting of yourself. This challenge will help you feel proud of yourself and be confident that you are your own happiness.

Without much ado, let’s take a look at what this 30-day self-love challenge will look like and how you can transform into the best version of yourself by the end of this challenge.

30-Day Self-Love Challenge

Part One: Your Mind

The first half of this self-love challenge will focus on your mental well-being. Every activity you engage in this aspect will be towards improving your mental health.

Day 1 – List Positive Affirmations

On the first day of the self-love challenge, list down three to five positive affirmations you can think about regarding yourself. Write them down in a diary, on post-its, or say them out loud to yourself as you get ready in the morning.

The more you recite these positive affirmations, the more confident you will become. Here are some to begin with;

“I am loved”

“I am confident in my skin”

and “I am ready for the day”

Day 2 – Start A Journal

On the second day, start a journal. You can either create your own journal or invest in a new one. Write down what you love about yourself. Think about your best qualities, your accomplishments, and what you are good at. This is the best way to know yourself so find yourself and write it down.

Day 3 – List The Things You’re Grateful For

Now onto day 3! List down the things you are the most grateful for. No matter if it’s a small thing, just list it. Anything that comes to mind, you should express your gratitude to. Think about the gestures others did for you or the ones you did for others. It could be being grateful for the barista who made your coffee or the flowers you saw on your way to work.

Day 4 – Add Meditation To The List

On the fourth day of the self-love challenge, we’re bringing in the big guns! Meditation. It’s an amazing way to relieve stress and promote happiness. So, sit down for 10 minutes today and just focus on your breathing or the sensations you’re feeling. You can play some soothing meditation music to focus too.

Day 5 – Reach Out To A Therapist

I’ve talked in my previous blogs about how therapy can be self-love too. So, on this day of the self-love challenge, I urge you to pick up that phone and connect with a therapist. Schedule a session today and begin the journey of rediscovering your mental health. If you aren’t comfortable with a therapist, then connect with a trusted person or your support system.

Part Two: Your Body

In the next half of the challenge, we’re focusing on improving your physical health. This aspect of your life is as important as the rest, so gear up for some physical activity.

Day 6 – List 5 Things You Love About Your Body

The idea of practicing self-love is to appreciate yourself – as you are – body and mind. So, while it may be difficult to do it, list five things that you love about your body. It could be your hair color, your eyes, or your strength too. List it down and recite them whenever you find yourself saying negative things about yourself.

Day 7 – Get A Good Night’s Rest

Lack of sleep can be harmful to your body and mind so on the seventh day of the self-love challenge, you’re going to get a good night’s rest. Avoid caffeine in the evening, avoid alcoholic beverages, and don’t schedule any important meetings early in the morning. You can also give sleep meditation a try to get a good night’s sleep.

Day 8 – Cook A Healthy Meal

Go online and look for healthy meal recipes you can try on the eighth-day of self-love challenge. You can also try to cook your favorite dish or anything new you’ve been wanting to try. Eating healthy is also a part of your overall self-care so be careful what you eat as it not only affects your physical health but your mental health too.

Day 9 – Move Your Body

On the ninth day of the 30-day self-love challenge, we’re moving our bodies and getting some exercise done. It doesn’t even have to be anything vigorous! A walk in the park, a ride on your bike, or a 20-minute yoga session can do the trick. The idea is to give your body a workout, get that heart pumping, and release those endorphins.

Day 10 – Go Out

It is day 10! So go out and get some fresh air. Try to stay for at least 15 minutes before you retreat to your home. Even if the day’s gloomy, try to stay out and find ways you can appreciate the day and weather.

Part Three: Your Relationships

In the next half of the self-love challenge, you need to work on your relationship. The relationships you have with others can also play a big role in your relationship with yourself.

Day 11 – Go Out With Your Loved One

Next on our 30-day self-love challenge, we have a get-together session with our loved ones. Plan an outing with your friends, family, or partner, and just have fun. You can try an activity together or just have a quiet lunch or dinner. You can also decide to stay in and cook a nice meal together.

Day 12 – Go On A Digital Detox

Now this is a challenge, in its true form! Our cell phones, especially social media, have become an inseparable part of our lives. On this twelfth day of the self-love challenge, I urge you to go on a digital detox. Avoid your social media all day and take a break from it all. Find a healthy distraction to focus on and stay away from the pull of your notifications.

Day 13 – Sit And Converse With Your Loved One

Whatever you’ve been avoiding talking about with your partner, friends, or family, on day 13 of the self-love challenge, sit down and talk about it. At the end of the talk, you will feel light-hearted and happy to get everything off your chest.

Day 14 – Volunteer

Day 14, here we come! It’s time to give back to the community through volunteering for a cause. You can volunteer for a charity or community you feel close to or you can volunteer at a local shelter. Devote some time of your day to give back to others.

Day 15 – Work On Your Boundaries

We’ve reached the halfway point! On the fifteenth day of the self-love challenge, you need to create a boundary. Boundaries are important in every relationship so think about an important relationship you want to work on and set a boundary concerning that.

Part Four: Your Surroundings

Just like people are important for your overall happiness and growth, so are your surroundings. In this next half of the self-love challenge, you’ll be focusing on changing your surroundings to something that makes you feel good about yourself.

Day 16 – Buy Some Flowers

For starters, buy some flowers or plants and brighten your living space with them. Buying flowers is one of my favorite activities and it gives me something pretty to look at when I wake up in the morning. This move will make you feel happy and lift your mood, so do it.

Day 17 – Organize Your Space

A messy space equals a messy mind, so on day 17th of the 30-day self-love challenge, organize your space and declutter. You can start small by making your bed and cleaning your work desk and moving forward from there. This move will help you focus and concentrate better.

Day 18 – Treat Yourself

It’s time you buy yourself something nice and treat yourself. You can go to the mall and buy a new dress or a new pair of shoes. Or if jewelry is more your style, then you can buy that too. The idea is to give yourself a treat. Shopping for yourself will make you feel confident and empowered.

Day 19 – Clean Out Your Wardrobe

Get that music going and get to work because it’s time to clean out your wardrobe. Channel your inner Marie Kondo and pack up all the things you don’t need anymore. You can choose to donate your things to a local shelter.

Day 20 – Create A Cozy Space

Get that Hygge vibe and create a cozy space for yourself. In this space, you can read a book, relax, or just meditate. Bring a comfortable chair, throw some pillows, get some comfy blankets, and get ready for some “me time”.

Part Five: Your Activities

In the next half of the 30-day self-love challenge, we’re bringing attention to your activities. The things you do every day to make yourself happy. Let’s see what you can do to make yourself feel loved and happy.

Day 21 – Pamper Yourself

It’s time to pamper yourself. Get your haircut, get your hair colored, treat yourself to a massage, or visit a spa for it all. Anything that makes you feel pampered, cared for, relaxed, and refreshed. If you don’t want to go all this way, then treat yourself to a warm bubble bath or a hot shower.

Day 22 – Try Something New

What’s the one thing you have always wanted to try but never had the time to do? Do it now! On day 22 of the self-love challenge, you’re going to try something new. It could be learning a new language, joining a cooking class, or just trying your hand at gardening. Try something new as it’ll help give you a boost of self-confidence.

Day 23 – Listen To Some Music

Whenever I’m feeling down, my favorite music always cheers me up. So, on the twenty-third day of the self-love challenge, blast your favorite tunes and sing along if the mood strikes. You can create a playlist of your favorite songs and play it on a loop when you’re getting ready for the day to keep your mood happy all day.

Day 24 – Read A Comfort Book

It’s time to take out your comfort book and read in the cozy space you created. You can either take up a reading of your favorite book or choose to start a new one. If you’re not a reader, then you can choose to listen to an audiobook instead.

Day 25 – Dance Like No One’s Watching

On the twenty-fifth day of your challenge, dance like no one’s watching. Let yourself loose to the tunes of your favorite beats. You can also choose to dance with your partner, friends, or family. Just play your favorite songs and dance it all out.

Part Six: Your Financial Health

In this last part of the 30-day challenge, we’ll be working on improving your financial health. Money is an important part of our lives, right? We can’t leave it behind, so let’s take a look at what you can do to work on your financial health through this challenge.

Day 26 – Set Financial Goals

Onto our financial health, we’re starting with creating financial goals. Create a list of the goals you want to achieve when it comes to financial health and get started on them. Planning is the crucial part so do it right. Be mindful of your income and expenses.

Day 27 – Open A Savings Account

On the twenty-seventh day of the 30-day self-love challenge, you need to open a savings account for yourself. This step will be something your future self will be grateful for and it will give you peace knowing that you have an emergency fund to rely on in case something happens. If you have a savings account, take this time to see how you can keep it flourishing.

Day 28 – Review Budget

We’re nearing the end of the challenge and to mark it, review your budget. See where you can cut back on your spending or areas where you can increase your budget. Remember, it’s a self-love activity, so the goal is to reduce stress by having a budget that doesn’t empty your pockets altogether.

Day 29 – Donate To A Charity

On the second last day of the 30-day self-love challenge, I urge you to donate to a charity. No matter how much you want to give, just donate to a cause you care about. You can start with $2 or go as far as $100, depending on your monthly budget. If it suits you, you can also make it a monthly thing.

Day 30 – Create A Vision Board

On the last day of the 30-day challenge, we’re creating a vision board for the future. This step will help you review your goals and make plans to make your life better. This is a visualization activity that will help you work on all of your goals and motivate you to achieve them.
