Coping With Loneliness And Overthinking While In Quarantine

COVID-19 has changed the way we used to live our lives and while you are practicing self isolation and social distancing there maybe times when you might feel lonely. But instead of becoming sad and letting negative thoughts dominate your mind, there are several things you can do to fight off loneliness. Following a schedule and accomplishing day to day tasks with zeal is a great way to stay normal. By doing this, you will hardly have any time to feel lonely. Also, approaching loved ones and spending quality time with them is possibly the best thing you can do during quarantine.

Loneliness is often accompanied by yet another companion called ‘overthinking’. It is when you tend to think things too much and harbor questions such “what if this would have happened?” or “Should that person have said so?” and so on. Such questions aren’t just questions, they take a huge toll on your mental health as well. Now, you might not be able to immediately get rid of a thought that’s eating your mind but what you can do is change the perspective and replace that thought with something more positive. You could also try engaging yourself with mindful activities. We have discussed all this and more in this podcast, so do listen to the podcast till the last.
