“Expectations are premeditated resentments”.
I personally feel that this quote is useful and actually practical in reality. Psychologically speaking, there are two facts related to this:
- Expecting something to happen will not make it happen.
- People have a tendency to pin their hopes for happiness on fulfilled expectations.
We may expect our partners to live up like romantic films, jobs to be idealized versions, and life matches up like “Instagram Feed”. But do you know that these expectations can create stress when they do not match up with the reality?
Therefore, it is high time to build awareness and manage our expectations, according to the actual situations. Listen to our podcast and let go of expectations and find something to be grateful about, even when things do not turn out to be the way you hoped, and experience the serenity.
Remember that the only person you should be competing with is “you”.
