World Kindness Day 2020 Inspire Kindness

“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; the third is to be kind.” – Henry James

World Kindness Day is a globally acclaimed celebration of promoting kindness throughout the world. Observed annually on the 13th of November, the day is part of the World Kindness Movement. This day is celebrated by many countries including the United States, Canada, India, Japan, Australia, and the U.A.E.

This day provides us the opportunity to consider the most important and key principles of humanity. To celebrate this day, people from all walks of life devote themselves to perform small acts of kindness that bring people together.

The purpose of this day is to highlight the good deeds of people in their communities that focus on spreading positivity and kindness. While its recognition by the United Nations is still in works, people from all around the world celebrate this day nonetheless.

Why Kindness Is Important

Kindness Is Important

Kindness by definition means, “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate”. Affection, concern, charitable, decency, and selflessness are words that are compared with kindness. Being kind requires a person to have determination and strength – mental and emotional.

Kindness is a quality that benefits a person and spreads happiness and positivity not only to others but to themselves as well. It is said that kindness improves interpersonal relationships and social connections and boosts your overall well-being.

Kindness is important because it:

Kindness isn’t faith but hope for a better future. Being kind doesn’ require you to do anything much. It requires you to think, feel, and act positively towards those around you.

How Can You Promote Kindness In Your Community

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” – Desmond Tutu

The world doesn’t need more businessmen. It needs people who are peacemakers, healers, storytellers, and love everything and everyone around them. The world needs people who are courageous and humble.

There are many ways you can give back to your community in terms of kindness and generosity. Some ways are:

1. Help all those you can reach

People can be rude to others – unintentionally so – when their day is not going well. In those moments, one smile or one well-wishing word can make a difference in their day.

2. Be a good listener

Be a good listener

Sometimes people just need someone to support them and let them share whatever’s on their mind. For those people, giving a shoulder to lean on can be a gesture of kindness.

3. Make someone’s day

Make someone’s day

Buy a coffee for the person behind you in the queue at the coffee shop or offer to pay for someone’s groceries. These small acts of kindness can go a long way to make someone happy.

4.Express your gratitude

Express your gratitude

Next time you are in a restaurant or at a drive-thru, say “thank you” or “please”. Expressing gratitude towards someone is a noble gesture and can put a smile on their face.

5.Donate

donate

We all have boxes of stuff – toys and clothes alike – that we are too old to wear or don’t use anymore. Donating those to a shelter will make sure that someone who needs those things has them. Bonus: it will make you feel like you made a difference, albeit small but a difference nonetheless.

6. Show affection

Show affection

You don’t have to travel the world to be kind to someone. Kindness begins at home after all. Make some time out of your schedule and spend some time with your parents, grandparents, pets, or children. Showing affection doesn’t always mean hugging someone. Sometimes spending time with your loved ones is enough.

7. Smile more

Smiling is infectious. Next time you are in an elevator, or at a coffee shop, or even in an office meeting – smile more often. When you smile at someone, you’ll get a smile in return, guaranteed. One smile can brighten someone’s day and in turn – yours!

Always Be Kind

The theme for World Kindness Day 2020 is “Inspiring Kindness”. Let’s make this theme our everyday task. Let’s become more active in our efforts to spread kindness and happiness. Kindness is a choice but it is something that comes naturally to all human beings.

Kindness makes us feel good about ourselves and gives us hope for a better world. It makes us stay positive and improve our moods, and health – mental, emotional, and physical.

Many people are too focused on their world that it is easy to forget to take a moment and think about others. On this world kindness day, we urge you to think of a unique way to be kind to someone and perform at least one act of kindness towards someone – it doesn’t have to be a person. Kindness is not limited to people, it can be toward people, animals, or the environment.

Being kind to others reminds us that we are not alone in the world and goodness doesn’t have to mean something. It can be selfless, decent, compassionate, and generous.

Let us know in the comments section; What is the one act of kindness that someone showed you or you performed for someone else?

Remember to be kind all day every day!

You are awesome! Keep smiling!

Kindness can become its own motive. We are made kind by being kind.
