However, self-talking is only beneficial when you are having the right and positive talks with yourself. This blog highlights why talking to you (self-talk) is good and how to embrace the art of talking to yourself in a positive way. So, let’s get started.

Note: Self-talk is concerning when it becomes part of the hallucination. If someone you know or your loved one is experiencing the same, Calm Sage strongly recommends booking an appointment with the mental health provider or health practitioner.

Self-talk process thoughts differently

Self Talk Process

As stated above, when self-talk done to evaluate something, it can be good for you personally and professionally. When you think and talk with yourself, your brain processes the information in different ways which helps you to reach a conclusion without taking help of any other personality. Additionally, talking to ourselves makes us more deliberate and explodes other points of view as well. Such thoughts and talks make us more alert towards extreme situations.

However, self-talk can also make us nervous when done before a meeting or any presentation. But, when done in the right manner, it can also prepare you for better.

Ways for embracing Self-talk

Psychologists consider self-talk as a part of developing language and communication power. Self-talk also helps in the improvement of cognitive and meta-cognitive skills which is a fundamental skill for reaching desired goals.

1.Be kind

As stated above, self-talk can backfire you as well and it’s you who is going to tackle all such situations. Therefore, try to be kind to yourself and practice positive self-talk. Along with this, try to figure out all the facts before getting stuck into a conclusion.

Self-talk improves your performance when it makes sense, therefore, try to be kind to yourself and practice positive self-talk. When we go into negative self-talk, the result eventually turns out to be negative only. Hence, practice kindness and positive self-talking.

2.Use self-talk as an advantage

Cheer yourself up before stepping into an event or presentation to make the most benefits of positive self-talk. Research shows that talking to yourself makes you learn things easily and instantly (even you can introduce this technique to your children).

Furthermore, people can also use self-talk for overcoming extreme and rough situations like sadness, confusion, anger, resentment, stress, and whatnot. It is also said that talking out loud helps to understand and learn the topic in depth. Self-talk also improves long-term memory.

3.Talk but listen too

While talking to yourself, remember the brain works on the basis of two ways: the listening and the talking. Self-listening is related with self-awareness which increases self-efficacy. So, every time you talk to yourself make sure you are listening too. Take a moment, be your best friend, and try to analyze if you’re moving into a right direction or not.

It might take some time to process all the thoughts but try to practice it every time you self-talk with yourself.

Self-talk is really beneficial and normal, it can help you reach your goals and help in finding your key points. I hope this helps you to develop self-talk and embrace your self-talking skills.
